End User Computing Engineer
End User Computing Engineer
Job Overview and Responsibilities
As an End-User Computing Engineer at Level 3, you will be responsible for leading the implementation and assist in the design of endpoint solutions for the organization. Building on your expertise in application packaging, systems management, and automation, you will ensure that end-user devices remain secure, compliant, and aligned with the company’s evolving business needs. You will also serve as a technical mentor to junior team members and collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive innovation in endpoint services and solutions.
In this role, you will:
Design, develop, and optimize application packaging and deployment processes using tools such as Microsoft Intune, SCCM (Configuration Manager), PowerShell, or Flexera Admin Studio.
Provide advanced technical leadership on endpoint lifecycle management, from hardware selection and provisioning to OS deployment, patching, and security configuration.
Research and assess emerging hardware (Dell, HP, Microsoft, Panasonic, Lenovo, Apple, etc.) and software solutions to determine their suitability for the organization and lead proof-of-concept initiatives.
Oversee Windows OS servicing and lifecycle management, ensuring alignment with corporate security policies and compliance requirements.
Establish and enforce advanced configurations for encryption, device compliance, and other endpoint policies, leveraging in-depth knowledge of security best practices.
Maintain high-quality data in Intune, SCCM, and related databases, implementing automated routines for data cleanup and validation.
Develop and refine engineering standards and procedures that optimize end-user computing environments, incorporating both security and usability considerations.
Provide guidance and expertise in mobile device management (MDM), ensuring best practices for smartphone platforms (iOS, Android) and tablets.
Lead continuous improvement efforts, identifying opportunities to streamline processes and enhance the end-user experience through automation, process improvement, and emerging technologies.
Collaborate cross-functionally with Service Desk, Infrastructure, Networking, Security, and other stakeholders to ensure cohesive and secure endpoint solutions.
Job Description
You will play a critical role in building and maintaining the next generation of our end-user computing environment. This includes:
Architecting and implementing scalable solutions for OS, patch, software, and firmware deployments across diverse device types and platforms.
Driving innovation by identifying new endpoint strategies and evaluating their impact on user productivity and corporate security.
Automating complex tasks through scripting and orchestration to reduce manual effort, minimize errors, and improve speed of deployment.
Mentoring junior team members and providing oversight on complex incident resolution, root-cause analysis, and long-term remediation planning.
Staying current on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies to maintain a competitive edge in endpoint management.
Requirements
Advanced experience with enterprise endpoint management tools, including Intune, SCCM (Configuration Manager), Kandji, or similar MDM/MAM solutions.
Expert-level understanding of Windows OS servicing, configuration, and compliance; demonstrated success in large-scale, complex deployments.
Strong scripting and automation skills (PowerShell or similar), with the ability to design and maintain robust automated workflows.
In-depth hardware expertise with multiple vendor ecosystems (Dell, HP, Microsoft, Apple, etc.).
Proven problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities at a high level, capable of resolving escalations and coaching others.
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively collaborate with technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
Solid background in security best practices (encryption, security baselines, threat mitigation) and experience enforcing compliance policies on endpoint devices.
Process engineering and documentation skills, including experience optimizing workflows and driving continuous improvement.
Experience with virtualized environments (Citrix, Azure Virtual Desktop) and an understanding of how virtual endpoints factor into an overall end-user computing strategy.
Mentorship and leadership capabilities, with a track record of guiding teams and advocating for best practices.
Preferred Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent industry experience in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
Microsoft 365 Certified: Modern Desktop Administrator Associate or equivalent advanced certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Endpoint Administrator, SCCM, Intune) are highly preferred.
Flexera Suite and advanced packaging expertise.
Experience with metrics collection, analysis, and reporting, including PowerBI or similar platforms.
Advanced process automation and orchestration experience (System Center Orchestrator, Azure Automation, or equivalent).
Demonstrated project management experience, capable of leading complex initiatives from concept to completion.
This role demands a proactive engineer who can balance innovative endpoint strategies with the security and performance needs of a large, dynamic organization. If you excel in deploying and optimizing end-user computing environments and are ready to take your expertise to the next level, we encourage you to apply.
